One of the most difficult experiences in life is dealing with the loss of your pet family members. It is not easy or simple and the grief is real. We understand this. Don't hesitate to ask your veterinarian for recomendations, of course. We have also found a few resources that may be useful to you or your family before, during, or after your journey with your pet.
Cornell University in New York and Tufts University in Massachusetts both have resource pages on pet loss through their veterinary schools. You may find useful information on their pages.
The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB) has a list of books on pet loss and grief. The books range from very young children to adult and they include some educational recommendations for professionals. They have filters so you can sort by title, author, age range, etc. Visit their site at:
On their home page, use the drop down menu under the category of Support to find their recommended reading list.
